Simple Breakfast
Morning all
We're staying at AKL and have the DDP. All the food looks amazing and getting very excited planning even though we don't go until October. I can imagine some mornings (particularly EMH at MK when we'll be out by 715) just wanting a slice of toast and a coffee. Can we do that at the hotel? Would we use up our QS credit just on that? If not is the best tip to grab a muffin and a juice bottle as a snack from the previous day and breakfast later in the parks? |

You can get toast using a snack credit or you can breakfast in your room with something simple like a muffin or pastry. That's what we normally do.

If you want to save your snack credits for nicer things (thinking food and wine festival booths if you're there in October), then I believe you can get 2 slices of bread for $1 that you can toast yourself and use the free spreads and your refillable mug for coffee (hopefully someone will be able to confirm that there is a toaster at the mara. I know there is at the moderate resorts).
We take the mini variety boxes of cereal with us and buy a carton of milk from the shop so we can have a quick, light breakfast in our room. The rooms have coffee machines, so you'd be able to do cereal and coffee without even leaving your room if that's an option.

There's a good article on the Disney food blog about The Mara, although it's a few years old so some of the offerings may have changed. It does show bread and mention the toaster though:

We go to hotel shop on arrival, and get variety cereal pack, milk, and fruit. I also take plastic bowls (purchased at pound shop pre-trip). We tend to be up about 6 due to jetlag, and use this for First Breakfast. Second Breakfast is usually in-park using snack credits. As stated, toast is a dollar for 2 slices - not worth using a credit.

Does anyone know if you can use the toasters with your own bread?

You can buy bread at the Mara for about $1 for 2 slices and then use the toppings bar. I don't think you would be able to toast your own bread though - bit cheeky! You can get coffee in your refillable mugs, so even buying the bread, it's a cheap breakfast. Alternatively, you can buy snacks to keep in your room and make coffee there too.

There's no one manning or watching the toasters (or microwave). You can buy bread from the resort shops too, so how would they know if it's bread from there, Walmart, home etc. Tbh, never seen the toasters that busy.
