Celebrate the Munchies - May 2014 - Complete :)

Well, I hadn't planned to do a Food Report, but we ate so much and took so many food pictures it would be a waste not to indulge you hungry Dibbers!

We were not on DDP and therefore we only had a couple of meals on-site. Think of this as a bit of a mash-up of dining options throughout the parks and the local area.

I'll add the links in as I go but I may not update this until Sunday. DBF is away this weekend and I need his food reviews too!

The first week of our holiday food-wise was like the warm-up to the main event! I got increasingly greedier as the holiday went on. Tbf, Liam is never one to eat beyond his means and is regularly one to ask “Are you really hungry again?” to which I respond, “No, I just want to taste it.” Liam can’t comprehend that someone could just ‘want’ to taste food.

Chilli’s
The picture's here aren't great, sorry peeps!

It had always been our plan to eat at Chilli’s on our first night but we almost didn’t make it. The flight over was awful and we were out of the airport much later than planned which meant everything was pushed backwards.

We managed to walk round Walmart like zombies before we finally got to indulge in our dinner. We didn’t order the plane food so we hadn’t eaten that much on the way over (ok, ok, I had eaten a box of Thorntons!)

We opted for the 2 for $20 menu. As our appetizer, we had the Crispy Onion String & Jalapeno Stack.

It was lovely. Liam’s quite wary of Jalapenos as they don’t agree with him but he ate a couple here. I ate most of them, they were beautiful. Forget the onion, it was all about the jalapenos! They had been deep fried to the point they were almost juicy, and they were hardly spicy at all. I can’t even describe how they tasted. The dish came with a cool sour cream type dip and dipped in that they were one of the best things I’ve ever tasted. You know, I paid that much attention to the jalapenos though I can’t even tell you what the onion strings tasted like. I’ll have to get Liam to shed some light on that when he’s back on Sunday!

For my main I chose the Chicken & Bacon Ranch Quesadillas. I think I’d had this on our last trip in 2012, before they introduced the 2 for $20 menu. Once again, they were absolutely amazing. I loved the ranch dip, it just added something so nice to the flavour when they were dipped in it. Maybe I had rose tinted glasses on because it was literally the start of the holiday, but I really enjoyed this and I would order it again. However, my stomach hadn’t acclimatised to the portion sizes just yet so I only ate half of it. The waitress duly brought me over a To Go box and the leftovers were devoured over the next two days. My only disappointment was that I couldn’t box the ranch dip up and take it home!

Liam had the Classic Bacon Burger and Fries. I’ll add in his comments on Sunday. One thing I would say is that when I go to a restaurant for a particular type of food, I eat that type of food. What I mean is, when I go to a Mexican restaurant, it’s because I want to eat Mexican food. I’m not quite sure why Liam ordered a burger! I guess he was trying to acclimatise his stomach too! He forgot to order it without cheese so he scraped it off and we had a big glob of cheese stuck on our appetizer plate, she must have thought we were crazy

Liam had a coke and I had Strawberry Lemonade. I don’t have a picture but it was heavenly. It was that good and it wasn’t in the normal drinks menu so I’d assumed it wasn’t refillable but it was!

The bill came to $28

Oh I couldn't resist

I'm itching to start my trippie but it's taking me SOOOO long to type up my voice notes! A 20 min voice note takes me an hour and a half to type and most of them are that long or more the idea is type the voice notes up, which are, literally just notes, and then flesh it out properly so god knows how long that'll all take me!

Great start to the food report! Can't wait to see more.

I agree..Full trip reports really are quite time consuming, more so than I was expecting before I started. It takes soo long for me to type up my initial ramble, proof read & edit and then go back and add in photos.

It usually takes about 5 hours of solid attention for a medium/big day and can easily swallow my whole Saturday.

I enjoy writing & reliving it but people be warned trippie writing not to be taken lightly It won't stop me doing it all over again for our next trip though!

I feel the same... It's putting the photos in that intimidates me! But I've really enjoyed writing my food Trippy so I'm determined to do it!

Liking this so far x
