The Twin-City food filled Honeymoon - NYC + Orlando (October 2015)

Welcome to my Food report from our recent Honeymoon

We did 3 nights in NYC (11th-14th October) and 11 nights in Orlando (14th -25th October)

We mostly ate offsite whilst in Orlando, with a couple of meals onsite. We like snacks, and good hearty food (lot's of it) and didn't really eat in many high end places. We also made a few visits to the food and wine festival.

We had a wonderful time and ate a lot of food, so enjoy!

Looking forward to this. We are off to NYC at the end of November so interested to see what you ate there.

Day 1 - Sunday 11th October - Ellens Stardust Diner NYC

I haven't started this food trippie off very well... we didn't take any pictures of the food we had at Heathrow or on the plane

At Heathrow we stopped off at EAT. and got a couple of sandwiches, mine was a Tuna Melt, and Cam had a Chicken and Bacon sandwich. Both were actually really nice.

Plane food was plane food. We both went for the chicken dish and then we had a chicken and bacon wrap before landing.

Because we'd eaten in the morning at the airport and on the plane we weren't really that hungry until dinner.

Our restaurant of choice was Ellens Stardust diner, we'd heard really good things about here so we gave it a try. A long queue to get in, about 30 mins. In this restaurant the wait staff sing to you, which is great. A super atmosphere, and they are actually really good. The only thing I didn't like was how close we were to the tables next to us, made getting in and out quite hard.

Onto the food..

Cam ordered the Philly Cheesesteak

He said this was lovely and would happily eat it again. Not the best one he's ever had, but still really good

I had the NYC burger, which came between toasted bread and served with caramelized onions. This was lovely, the onions really added a great taste!

No room for pudding!

Day 2 - Monday 12th October

Day 2 - Monday 12th October

First things first - Breakfast - we had breakfast included at our hotel, the usual you get in america - waffles, cereal, bread, pastries, egg, sausage bacon, fruit etc.

This suited us fine, nice quick breakfasts in the morning, then spend the day exploring

I went for the Waffle with syrup - I always love these so was very happy. I think I grabbed an apple too

Cam went for the same, but added some sausage and eggs

Nothing special - but filled us up for the day.

Around lunch time we were in the Wall Street area, about to head down to the 911 memorial. They had a street market on, so we decided to pop along and grab some lunch.

1st we got some freebies from one of the stalls - we ate these throughout the day as we got both each

We fancied a hot dog of some kind, so looked at all the stalls - right near the end we found one that did hot dogs and also philly cheesesteaks.

These were delightful, they were really generous with portions, and thoroughly enjoyed it!

I went for the Philly - nom

Cam for the Hot Dog - he also said nom

In the evening we decided to head to Lombardi's Pizza - we had seen this on 'The Amazing Race' as it was the USAs 1st Pizza Restaurant. They serve italian style thin pizzas which we adore.

We ordered a large margarita to share - this was huge! It was amazing though and we gobbled it all up. To be honest I could have eaten a full one to myself

Cam said it was delightful, I took a bite and agreed Much better quality than was on offer on the usual street vendors we saw.

The waffle was great - We had the same breakfast selection when in Anaheim last year so once I knew we had a waffle maker I got all excited again - I'm easily pleased!
