When our daughter was at college almost 20 years ago she worked at a car phone place in the evenings on the phones.
That Christmas they got a huge cardboard box full of Hotel Chocolate stuff, bars of chocolate and the caramel buttons. Imagine a box that a delivery of A4 paper would come in.
We really enjoyed them not knowing how expensive Hotel Chocolat would become. It must have been when they were first launched as we'd never heard of them , and it was a promotion.
And yes they were bought out recently, so have become even more expensive.

I just googled and the first shop opened in London in 2004, so yes they were starting up. We probably ate a couple of £1000 worth of chocolate that Christmas and New Year without knowing it 😂

I think you can get much better chocolate at that price point. Local artisan suppliers and the like although I also rate Montezumas

I don’t buy anything that’s specifically “Christmas “ from HC , as soon as Christmas over its slashed to almost half price. Better value in another form of their chocolate.

It wasn't the Christmas box but the Sleekster one they sell all year round.
The Christmas box was £90 😮

I got introduced to them in 2006 and I'm pretty sure the small packets were £2 each at that time - I used to buy them as gifts for friends! Admittedly this was 18 years ago now...

I don't live in the UK but visited earlier this year and Hotel Chocolat chocolate was on my list of things to buy. I did still buy a decent amount but remember thinking it was more expensive than I remembered from a few years ago!

M&S have a festive box that’s a similar to size to the sleekster and looks just as lovey - if anything a bit more eye catching. Think it’s £15
