I mean that’s just bizarre. Surely the unwrapping of presents and gifts is what it’s all about.

Poor children. 90% of a gift is the unknown anticipation. Maybe I’m old fashioned but that’s the magic of Christmas. Each to their own.

As I posted upthread, my parents didn’t wrap when I was little. I can assure you that we in no way need or needed your sympathy. We were spoiled rotten and the anticipation of going downstairs to see if “he’s been” was magical, as was walking into what felt like a treasure trove with our gifts lovingly laid out and the tree lights twinkling.

As you say yourself, each to their own. I wrap everything for my two but everyone does things in their own way.

I have three “children” to wrap for this morning. Waiting for DS16 to head out the door and I am going to become a wrapping ninja. 😂

My children still get their presents in their Santa sack which we dutifully lay out on Christmas Eve. They still haven’t figured out that the one they lay out is quite a bit smaller than the ones that Santa leaves. I have an almost identical replica for each child. I fill one as I wrap and we lay out the other on Christmas Eve. I don’t know where I had the idea for that from but it’s such a time saver.

We can’t put presents under our tree yet as Santa brings them when everyone is asleep!

This is the first year ever we have had presents under the tree as the kids are grown up now and we sadly lost both our dogs over the past 18 months. The dogs would have not been able to help themselves from 'investigating' otherwise.

Our Rolo loves the gifts under the tree, as he has some under there too. He often goes and sits by them and looks at us longingly to ask if he can have them today 🥰 He also goes to his advent straight after dinner each day in December as he knows it’s advent time 💞

There's something magical about a wrapped present, and the excitement of unwrapping it that quite often far outweighs whatever the contents actually are.

There's just the two of us for Christmas so we tend to get a lot of small things so we can spend the day gradually unwrapping them. I would hate to just be handed a pile of stuff! Each to their own but as much as I get fed up of wrapping, they have to be wrapped in this house!

Santa brings presents and puts them in a pile on a sofa each/the floor for DD. Santa doesn’t leave any presents under our tree, so we use it for wider family presents and friends. The presents that go under the tree for us get opened on Boxing Day (make it last!)
