I actually thought the very same thing. Its sad to think it but I bet thefts in this way are through the roof at this time of year.

Home from my shift this morning very busy but everyone was lovely today
There’s a Tesco just along the road from where I work and everyone was telling me it was carnage in there which after working for Asda for 13 years I can well imagine.

Were they all in use maybe?
We just nipped in to Sainsbury’s after the cinema for potatoes and they had loads ready for use.
It was heaving

We went to Aldi around 10, roads were busy but there was space in car park and the aisles were pretty good for getting around. There were a few things we couldn’t get though, coleslaw, dips, cocktail sausages so we then went to nearby Tesco. Again car park was busy but we parked quite easily and the shop wasn’t too busy. They were stocked with everything so we had no problems. Didn’t queue at checkouts in either shop for long either. Biggest problem I had was that DH saw loads of his ex-work colleagues in the aisles, he retired in June, so he stopped to talk to everyone 🙄

I've had the dreaded 'unavailable items' message, for my delivery tonight. I've to get strawberries, blueberries, grapes and lettuce at some point! Argh 😖

I was aiming for Asda and Aldi - road works 100m from my house changed my mind! so went to local co-op and shops - got parked, in and out and everything i needed (my main order was from butchers this week delivered) - but so nice that the local shops were ok ish to use.

I had a Tesco delivery slot booked for 7-8am, it arrived at 7:30, luckily nothing missing but French toasts substituted with Tuc biscuits which I sent back.
Then popped to Chatsworth farm shop, passed a M&S carpark which was rammed…..
Chatsworth is 20 mile from us but a nice drive and roads were easy. Met DD and family and had a good breakfast there. Went into farmshop as all their food is lovely if pricey, got some bits including nice biscuits for nibbles. Cafe was busy, shop wasn’t too busy. We were there by 8:25 parked easy but much busier when we left.
Called at Chatsworth garden centre for a coffee and more chat plus a browse of the sale.
No more food shopping to do now, thank goodness!

Problem with the self scan handsets is that there just aren’t enough at this time of year and you’re reliant on the staff having time to take them back and dock them. Plus if they don’t stay docked long enough, they won’t charge enough and pack up part way through. With Sainsbury’s, the smartshop app is far better this time of year
