October 2020 Flight prices - Half term!

We have just got back and really want to slot in a cheeky week next year - will be hand luggage only.

Have started looking at flight prices and for the back end September/ early October I can get return for 2 Ad and 2Ch hand luggage only for c£1300 (Flying direct into Tampa/ Out of MCO indirect)

When i look for the same flights for half term (flying 23-30th) I can only find direct both ways but its £3300

We have to go in half term as its my DS first year in secondary school - do you think these prices are this high because they have just been released and will come down or do you think this is the reality for next year

(we only paid £1800 for LGW-MCO for the 4 of us this year including a class S car for two weeks)

My countdown says 2022, but I'm looking for 2020

Not all of the October flights are released yet. I know my return date for Virgin won't be available until the end of November, and most of the search engines I'm looking at only give me dates to early October.

I am, however, using the last 2 weeks of August as my guideline. I've never had to book in school holidays before, so this is a whole new world of pricing for me.

we always travel the last 2 weeks in oct and i have never paid more than €2500 for 2ad and 3children, we fly indirect from Dublin. When AA and United release flights they should come down in price

Your dates for the end of October won't be released yet from most airlines (apart from BA, probably). Dates up to the first week in Oct are out now. Having said that, I really struggled to get end of Oct flights at decent prices last year from MAN and ended up paying £600pp for indirect MAN-ATL-MCO.

Our BA flights for October half term were released today and are currently over £800pp. Wow! There’s no way i’m paying that.

This October we paid £464pp, and booked in mid-November. I’ll be monitoring the price every day and book when they go below £500pp.

Just curious did people manage to find something suitable for Oct half term? It seems crazy expensive this year!

I've just replied to another Oct thread.

14th Oct to 29th Oct, LGW to MCO, indirect. 2 adults, 1 child.

Less than £900. Not each. Total.

The prices are terrible this year.

I had an awful experience. Found direct flights on Expedia with BA which were £600pp direct including baggage and seat selection (or so i thought), when i had been seeing around £1300! Even though this is still pricey, i went for it.

Then it really was too good to be true, the tickets were never issued. Had i not called Expedia and been on the phone for 2 HOURS, I wouldn't have known this. A manager finally issued the tickets but then asked for £200 extra for seat selection which i'd paid for! At thay point I cancelled.

I have now booked flights elsewhere at greater cost but i had great customer service and an actual legit ticket. Shocking really, but at least we are going now...
