I love baked Camembert with nice warm focaccia. TBH, anything with cheese is a winner - cheeseboard, jalapeño poppers, mozzarella sticks, brie and pear salad, caprese salad.

At the start of such a rich and filling meal, I like to have melon with a fruit coulis.

Thanks all. I'm loving the mushroom and / or warm cheese suggestions. My sister is doing a cheese board for later but you can never have enough cheese at Christmas right?

charcuterie plate sounds the easiest.
If have chance to cook maybe breaded mozerella sticks, brie bites etc. Supermarkets all do a selection box. If bake whole camembert i suggest topping it with cranberry sauce before popping in the oven. |

My friend makes a starter/ buffet plate of small shop bought Yorkshire puddings, mix horseradish with double cream to fill and then put a small roll of beef on the top. They are delish, easy to transport and can be eaten later if any left, which is highly doubtful!

Charcuterie would get my vote if fish is off the menu.
Such a good thing to prep in advance and you could make some really nice piccalilli and stuff to go with it 😋 We never have a starter. We snack on party food all day long tbh and have the turkey at about 6-7 in the eve

We have egg mayonnaise, kids have cheese and bacon loaded wedges, 2 have prawn cocktail and 2 have tomato soup (autistic). A mixed variety but all quick and easy to make.

I love the breaded/deep fried cheeses you can buy with red onion marmalade with a garnish of salad or a pear and goats cheese salad with walnuts can be prepared quite easily.
