Thanks for you replies - I’ll make an appointment. I always just hate that I’m wasting the docs time.

Maybe a Heberden's nodes. These are caused by arthritis. Mine start off painful then settle into very "lumpy" joints nearest the nail.

The lump on my thumb - it’s just on the thumb joint, it’s just odd shaped. It’s never been overly sore and this one on this finger it was sore on holiday but more like the skin was sore like when you get a paper cut that’s why I thought it was a bite.
I just looked at gout and it said re red meat and alcohol and sugary things but I don’t eat any red meat at all, I don’t drink and I’m not a fan of sugary foods or snacks so what would’ve made it flare up on holiday? I wondered re vanilla latte - I had 1 every day in the hotel Starbucks but I have 1 a day of the ready made ones at home.
I don't drink either really, red peppers and tomatoes seem to set me off with gout flare ups strangely enough, people tend to think you're a drinker which just isn't true, I know some pretty clean eating super fit people on gout forums who are still cursed with gout.I do hope you don't have it though.Blood tests will tell you .

It looks like a nodule. I had them on my fingers when I got an RA flare up. They can have various reasons for being there. I’d get a blood check which should find the cause if there is one.

Although psoriatic arthritis often does not show in the blood markers.

It looks like a Heberden's node to me (sign of osteoarthritis i.e. wear and tear arthritis - the sort we get as we get older - sorry!). They should feel hard and knoblly. Alternatively if it is soft and squishier then it might be a synovial cyst, which is benign. It doesn't look typical of a rheumatoid nodule or a gouty lump, and the fact it's only on one side of the joint is less typical for psoriasis associated arthritis.

Very reasonable however to get it checked by your GP if you are worried, as none of us have the full picture of your general health and well being.

I started with a lump like that too. Initially they though it was rheumatism but now they said that they’re knuckle pads related to dupuytrens contracture. They flare up and go red from time to time.

Ganglion. Harmless. Leave it alone. In the olden days they used to hit them with a bible.

Hi Scotsmomma, it sounds like you have a sensitivity to nightshade plants which include tomatoes and peppers. They contain solanine which might aggravate arthritis and inflammation.

OP it looks like arthritis, hope you get answers from the Drs
