Tokyo trip - hotel question

We are looking at 8 nights in Tokyo to do TDR and Tokyo itself.

Thinking currently is:

Fly Sunday, arrive Monday, stay at Sheraton Grande or Hilton in Tokyo Bay.

Tuesday - Friday in the parks

(Yes, we want four days, we are big Disney fans, and these are the quietest days to visit.)

Friday night, transfer to Tokyo hotel for 4 nights.

This gives us 3 days for Tokyo itself.

Then fly home Tuesday and have the rest of the week to recover.

If budget stretches I would like another night in Tokyo, but we may not be able to afford that.

Question: might it be possible to stay 8 nights in our Tokyo Bay hotel and ‘commute’ into Tokyo?

We live in West London and do a 45 min tube journey every day so are used to that.

I would stay put in your Tokyo Bay hotel so easy to use Metro 🚊 they are very efficient and at the most only 30mins away from anywhere in Tokyo , don’t want to waste part of your holiday changing hotels. The Japanese are so very helpful if you look lost they will come up to you and offer help not only give you directions but walk with you to were you want to go , not use to that in UK. Had fab holiday last year in Japan only downside was weather a lot of rain and 2 Typhoons did a week Tokyo and 13 days cruise round Japan .

When I visited in 2015 we stayed at the Sheraton Grande Tokyo Bay for all 5 (or 6?) nights of the stay, and used it as a base to visit Tokyo. It wasn't hard at all to get from there into Tokyo - just took the Disney monorail to Maihama Bay station, and then took the train into central Tokyo.

One reason why we did this was because I could get a much better rate for the Sheraton Grande (which has fairly large rooms) than I could for a comparably large room in central Tokyo!

So in my view definitely doable as a commute from Tokyo Bay into central Tokyo! It's a bit further away from the excitement as such but worked out well for us.

Personally I would move. Our hotel in Tokyo was significantly cheaper than the one by Disney - we stayed at the Sheraton. Although in Tokyo you won't get anywhere near the room size! Moving to a cheaper hotel may give you that extra day you want

Yes, that is a consideration. However we wonder if it might feel a bit of a come-down!

Also, staying put would mean we could get an evening ticket on our last night for a final Disney fix!

Very easy to commute. 15 mins on train to tokyo station. Loads of places to get food. Download hyperdia app and look at train times, this app is awesome for planning trains.

The hotel quality around Disney is good with good room sizes. Also if you get in a sale you are golden anyway. Moving is also a shuffle of check out/check in and that is valuable holiday time.

Consider Okura bay, it is (IMHO) on par with the Hilton after stopping there.

What are your flights like for landing? Do monday to thur in parks thats what we did (in park mon afternoon) it staves off the jetlag too.

We went in 2015 for our honeymoon - stayed at the PHT and used a combination of their shuttle bus and the trains to get into shinjuku, Tokyo central etc and found the train system really easy to use (we lived in hayes at the time so totally happy with using the trains) Used a great app that helped us with journeys too and if we ever looked a little lost, people helped us without even asking lol!

Just checked and the app we used was called Tokyo Subway - we hired a portable wifi device for the trip as wifi was not great at all (booked all in the uk, delivered to hotel and posted back at the airport after we checked in) so we were always able to use our phones and the apps
