I expect they differ depending on the aircraft.

Try seatguru.com put in your specific flight details and then you can check out any seats.

I take it you are looking at the row beside the exit door on the 747-400

We have sat there - the main advantage is you are off the plane first - but you have to balance that with:

the "window" seat has not got great legroom without encroaching on the leg/foot space of the middle seat,

the seats are narrowed by having the tray table in the armrest - the armrest therefore cannot be lifted,

because of the exit children cannot sit there, nor any disabled or less than physically fit person,

all hand luggage has to be stowed in the overhead lockers,

and it is close to the (noisy and smelly) galley.

If it’s the 747 then they’re actually our preferred seats, even taking into account the narrower seat.

No one reclining in front either.

First off before anyone else as they need you out of the way.

Best side too as the other side is near the toilets so more people moving about that side.

We tend to book middle and aisle due to the bulk in the door affecting legroom by the window.

I have a blow up footstool which means I can really spread out nice and comfy. No one stands in my leg space.
