The Carder Girls half term in Disney
So... I’ve never done a trip report before... and with an over 10 year Dibb membership probably about time!
I can still hardly believe it but next month I will be jetting back to the land of the mouse with my gorgeous daughter. Hubby is left at home (not a massive fan of Disney and went to nyc to watch the tennis as his treat earlier in the year) and it is just me and my daughter! Who: I’m Anna, I’m 34 and mum to one gorgeous girl. I am a Disney addict. First went in childhood and this will be my 7th trip to WDW. It’s my favourite place on the planet, despite being lucky enough to have many travel experiences, Disney for me is possibly the only place I can forget everyday life and be in a bubble of blissful happiness. My favourite park would be Epcot, ride is Soarin (although small world comes a close second) I’m ludicrously excited to be taking my daughter on this trip and just feel so very lucky to have the opportunity to share this place with her so many times. This is Poppy. she’s a very tall 7 yr old. She is incredibly loving and caring, she is well behaved and hates to disappoint. She is however a typical only child, want things on her terms, in her time and doesn’t truly appreciate how lucky she is. We continue to remind her of that! Her favourite park is Magic Kingdom and her favourite ride is small world, although she loved Aladdin’s carpets. She is NOT a thrill ride girl. She’s been to wdw at 2.5, 4.5, 6.5 and so this is her 4th trip. When: Thursday October 18th - leaving Friday 26th. It’s the shortest trip I’ve done, and it feels utterly ridiculous (as my mother in law would say) to be going transatlantic for such short trip. I also don’t do well with jet lag 😖. But this means poppy is only out of school two days and gets two days recovery before school starts, so hopefully it’ll work for us. We will only do Disney, we won’t go offsite, and with a trip last year we can focus on key things and not cover everything. Flights: virgin direct from LGW. I don’t really enjoy flying an so this flight alone with Pops is y main concern. I trust Virgin and I like them and we have V room booked to start us off in a good frame of mind. I’ve opted not to go up in bubble (which we loved last year) but instead on 2 of the 4 middle seats so we can get out and in without interruption. On the way back I’ve got the 2 seaters at back of plane. Staying: port Orleans Riverside with ddp (this is only our second onsite experience- we stayed at POR for 5nts last trip and I was blown away by the relaxing nature of the place and the ease of Disney transport. I wouldn’t even consider going alone with my daughter and staying anywhere else but onsite, and now I feel comfortable as I know the hotel. ) Plans It’s my first time going in October so I just had to take the opportunity to do MNSSHP. I have a dress and Poppy is having a tutu made out of spider web net and a matching t shirt to my dress. It’s also my first chance to experience food and wine. As I love Epcot this looks phenomenal. To be honest however Poppy won’t let me just wander aimlessly around drinking and eating so I’ve already drawn up my list of must try snacks. It’s also my first ever Disney dining plan experience! I am so excited for this. I have read loads about it but for someone knowing a lot of Disney stuff and feeling very at home normally this adds a whole new dimension! We have ADRs at cape may breakfast (new to me) Teppan Edo (poppy has never been) crt breakfast (new to us) yak and yeti (new to us) chef Mickey (old fave) So... in a few paragraphs that is us. Hope people will be interested in what we get up to 😎 |

Hi Anna 😀, just found your pre-trip report. Love your dress for MNSSHP, can’t wait to see Poppy’s outfit
I feel the same about staying onsite, as a mum and daughter group (also have a DH who doesn’t get Disney as much as we do 😀 ) I am confident staying onsite and using the transport. However, I am also nervous about the airports, not flying as I enjoy that, but I get lost in airports and nervous going through immigration and security but I will be fine once I am on the plane and then the Magical Express. I will be hoping your travel day goes well as it will calm me for our trip a few days later. Edited at 08:43 PM. |
