According to our "Guide"

Just got back & decided to do a tour, in the hope of getting the free gift card but only got 3 FP+. anyway according to our Guide:
1. Riveria is going to have 5 room standards, the "bottom" being a 2 person room
2. Disney are ROFRing so that they can raise the cost of all points, in his opinion, we are about to see the 2 New resorts hitting the $250 mark
Tried his hardest to get us to sign up for CCV before we left yesterday.

$250, wow

Aren't most studio's really designed for 2 people, ( i know 4 or 5 can fit in, but with a sofa bed you have to think they are really 2 person )

Mmmm. Sounds like the Guide was a tad over enthusiastic to get a sale!

If we take SSR as an example there are already 7 room standards
Studio
Studio Preferred location
1 bed
1 bed Preferred
2 bed
2 bed Preferred
Grand Villa.

I suspect they will do a Preferred view at Riviera. The view will be of the loading bay for the gondolas which when I drove past it yesterday is a monstrosity in front of the Resort.

The one beds also have a sofa bed. We have often had 4 in a studio and i don’t think we are unusual.

Tom tbh can't see us using them ! Not sure how fast they are going to move but certainly the loading areas looked huge!
He seemed to think 1 Queen bed plus bathroom, less points per night.
He wasn't quite pushy but was definitely "big upping" value per point but from a selfish point of view, we're unlikely to see the end of a 50 year contract! & I can't get my head around paying $182/point. He did seem to think that the next price increases are going to be eye-watering, thinks SSR dues will jump due to a re-furb…
Not sure if they are changing the way they are marketing their "old" resorts: Having a chat with a "girl" in the Co-op place & she noticed our "Owner" sliders, she stated that she had just bought 150 points but a mix of Direct & resale CCV/OKW but her "version" of Resale was a direct contract from Disney, is this how Disney are now marketing the "older" resorts?
& one that made me chuckle: Sitting in the lounge area at SSR, near the DVC podium, up walks an older American guy & starts asking about Riveria & the yet to be named new one. So DVC rep tells him that he expects a minimum 75 point buy in, gentlemen asks what that will get him...… " Not a lot... " said the rep

Re the dues at SSR jumping due to refurb, he maybe doesn’t get the concept that there’s already tens of millions in the capital account ready to pay for it. Or maybe he does and he’s trying to make the latest resorts seem better value.
I reported on here 6 months ago Riviera would have the mini room, essentially losing the sofa bed. Hope they put Kings in them though.
Could be a way to make high points per night seem more palatable, or a genuine attempt to address member wishes. I’m sure if they were genuinely cheap they’d be popular with couples.

and us, i was trying to say that disney originally would have had a studio for 2 ( with the option for 4 )

staying in OKW we prefer the studio over the 1 bed
