C&L South African Adventure Oct 2018 - Day 8 - Travel to Cape Town
Day 8
We were on our way to Cape Town today We got up at 5am and got ready to leave. We were earlier than we needed to be to the airport but we had to drop the car back. As our flight had arrived in Johannesburg early we had picked up the car earlier than expected, I didn’t know how strict the car companies are with making sure you take it back in time before charging you an extra day. We were too early to drop our suitcases off as our flight wasn’t until 9.40am so we went for breakfast at Spur Steak Ranch. I ordered a coffee and the french toast which was huge, but I still managed to eat it all! Chris had the unreal breakfast, this had egg, bacon, chips, tomato and toast. He didn’t finish it all but enjoyed what he did have. This came to 130RN (about £7) including a tip. We took our time at breakfast and then went back down to the desk and were able to drop our cases off. We got through security without any problem and sat down airside. I popped to a souvenir shop and bought some big 5 shot glasses and 5 keyrings to take back as presents and a save the rhino bracelet. This all came to about £20. We boarded on time and took off about 10am. The flight was only about 90 minutes so it went very quickly, we were pretty tired so we just snoozed for the flight. The flight landed at 11.40am, as it was an internal flight we didn’t have to go through passport control and went straight to collect our bags. We were met by C, one of my family members who we were staying with. M&C moved to Cape Town nearly 18 months ago, they asked if any family wanted to stay with them so we jumped at the opportunity. Their friends hire out cars so we hired one from them. It was about 30 minutes to get to their house and we settled in. At about 3pm we went out for a walk along the beach with their dog, Elsa. Their house is about a 10 minute walk from the water front, stopping for a drink at a bar. We took Elsa back then went down to another bar called the Blue Peter for a sundowner. The sunset was absolutely gorgeous. After our drink we went back to the house and we had a bbq before going to bed 🙂 Next - day 9
