New York transfers!

Hello all!

I am headed to New York for the first time in March 2019 by myself

Just wondered what people usually do for transfers to and from the airport? I'm flying into JFK and staying near Times Square.

Any help or info is appreciated!

Thank in advance

We've booked with Blacklane for our trip this time, which wasn't much more expensive than a yellow cab, but that was with a 20% black friday discount.

We got the subway from JFK to Penn and then walked to our hotel from there. Is really easy and don't have to worry about sitting in traffic. The subway is incredibly easy to use, and inexpensive. You have to go from JFK to Jamaica on the airtrain, then you pay for your ticket when you get off the train. Then you buy a metro card and get the train from Jamaica to your location. It took us about an hour, but we were fine with that as didn't want to sit in traffic and it saved us a few dollars. I've a great post with instructions on that someone gave me before we went if you want them.

If you don't fancy the train, we used a shared minibus transfer Go Airlink.
£17pp bought from Attraction Tickets Direct.

Much cheaper than a taxi, the only 'downside' is there's a few more people in the minibus with you and you have to go round dropping everyone off at their hotels.

I land at 7pm so do you think this would be fine for little old me to do at night? Seemed safe etc? I'd love to have a look at the instructions - feel free to send me a message or put them on the thread - thank you!

It is quite a long journey, the price is pretty good for what it is. I think the traffic will still be busy.

I don't think I would want to get public transport on my own in the evening for a first time visit. Although I am sure it would be safe just like London Underground that time of night.
