Looking for suggestions for a buffet, what would you prefer- jacket potatoes with fillings, things like cheese, tuna, chicken mayo and other ideas or should i stick to sarnies, sausage rolls, quiche? Itd for 140 people any ideas suggestions would be good. Also how much to do? Thanks

I would sack the spuds off too. Have you thought of doing a big pan of stew or curry? Or bacon ribs and pea or lentil soup.

Again I would prefer a cold buffet to baked potato. Another thing to think about is is there enough table space for everyone to be able to sit down and eat? With a potato you would need cutlery and it's awkward to eat standing where as people can pick at a buffet.

I would do a big pile of new potatoes you can easily pre cook and microwave just before serving if possible knob of butter and some fresh mint to garnish
140 is a huge amount to do a buffet for I hope you have plenty of help . Also if you buy ready made stuff it can be very expensive What about a large ham /mixture of cold cut meats .Side of roast or poached salmon which will look great but not too expensive . Loads of different salads a few dressings and large desserts like trifle or pavlovas What is the occasion ? |

That’s lovely .You could do pizza ,veggie lasagne or Delias 4 cheese one has always been a hit when I’ve done it .
Thing is doing it all yourself will be cheaper and nicer but a lot of work so the more you can do before the better.I hope you get chance to enjoy yourself too . Ooh don’t forget some big jugs of summer punch for the kids (squash with some fruit thrown in lol)and maybe some Pimms a likey from Aldi’s or Lidle (to keep costs down ) Have fun . |
