Is there anyway you could travel with just the 10kg hand luggage allowance?
It might make it a lot quicker for you to get out of the airport.
You could always get all your toiletries etc out there.
I don't think I could do it, but some people do do it 😬

Of course BA's hand luggage is 46Kg not 10kg. (23kg for cabin bag and 23kg for handbag/laptop bag). Weight's not really the issue more size

Although a tight connection on most days it will not be an issue and people will make the flight. There is more chance of making this connection than having a short connection in the US where we hear of lots of Dibbers missing their connections.

It’s more the return journey and getting back to yorkshire that puts him off , it’s a tiring enough journey direct .

Will call BA to find out what happens if we miss the gatwick to orlando flight... may see if they will move us to the later in the day flight

It is during school holidays and a friday - so heathrow to gatwick traffic hopefully will be quiet? (anyone?)!
I live near Heathrow and generally a Friday morning is a lot quieter than the rest of the week. It’s in the afternoon that traffic really starts building up around the dreaded J15-10.
Good luck I’m sure you’ll be fine!

We've booked these flights on the way out too, the price was ridiculously cheap compared with Virgin et al - though our flight out is on a Thursday morning. I'm not stressing out about the connection, we'll book a private transfer between Heathrow and Gatwick and all being well it'll be fine. I remember being really anxious about booking my very first indirect flight via Frankfurt and was terrified it was all going to go wrong (it didn't). As for coming home, I suspect we may miss our flight from Heathrow to Manchester (due to some unforseen circumstance ) and will have to get the train back to sunny Stockport.

I’d definitely do hand luggage only going out. You don’t have the issue on the return so checking bags back won’t be a problem.
It will be much easier to just grab your bags and leave the airport without waiting for baggage carousels.

Word of warning. We used batransfer and they were an hour late picking us up.
