Changing from a 2 bed to a 1 bed

We are planning on spending 3 weeks in a DVC property next year and have so far been looking at staying in a 1 bedroom villa (2a 2c). However we now potentially have 2 members of extended family joining us for the first few days or maybe a week. Do you think it would be possible to book a 2 bed for the time they are with us and a 1 bed for the rest of the time but actually stay in the same room for the duration of our trip? So effectively stay in a 2 bed lock off to start with which then gets closed off to become a 1 bed once they have gone?!

It's really difficult to get room requests which this would be. Why not book a one bed for you and a studio for them. That way you stay in the same room for the whole holiday?

We could do this although we were looking at BLT where it would be about 10 points extra a night to do it this way!

If you ask when you check in it may be possible. We have had 2 separate bookings and were able to stay in the same room. Once you are in the room it won’t be allocated to anyone else. And it’s less cleaning for them.

A longer booking in a one bed and. Shorter in a studio and a request for them to be connected could also work but I think there is no guarantee they will be connecting so the question is which would be more frustrating. Separate rooms or moving?

For 10 extrA points a Night is just speak to reception and request you stay in the same room. I think the odds are good.

Yes you're right - for 10 extra points a night I think it's worth the risk!

It now looks like it might be happening the other way around - with us going out first and them joining us a week in. I'm not sure it will be as easy for them to do it this way round as it would mean the room next to us being available at the right time but probably still worth the risk rather than the extra points!
