Went this afternoon. I'm not too sure how I feel. From the first scene of a New York which clearly came from a computer rather than a pen, I felt there was more unreal about this than real.
I know of course we are talking about a whole world which isn't real but it felt they were going for the maximum special effects at the expense of the story. The last minute twist which flies in the face of the original story therefore if the canon of the story is to be held true means that it wasn't true and therefore will be overturned in future. I am starting to dislike the suitcase which is a bit like Dr Who's screwdriver and capable of being the answer to any problem. In short I wanted to really enjoy but didn't. Also why do people feel the need to take into cinemas sweets in noisy packets which they eat throughout a 2 plus hour film? |

SLIGHT SPOILER ALERT
We have just come home from seeing this. We all loved it, even DH who isn’t at all keen on Harry Potter films (strange I know 😂 ). I loved the bigger and better sets and special effects. Really enjoyed the story, didn’t find it confusing (and I am easily confused 😂 ) but loved the references to the original HP stories. I also liked that if you weren’t a HP geek, like DH, you can still enjoy Fantastic Beasts films. Definitely agree with previous posters that we were not aware of a certain character having this new relative, but obviously it has been put in to lead onto more Fantastic Beasts films. Loved how much young Newt looked like Newt, and felt Jude Law was an excellent choice as young Dumbledore. Who would have thought Dumbledore looked so smart when he was young 😂 ? I have just got back, liked it but did not love it. I think that is because I want to care more about the characters and the effects overwhelm the storyline. In the Harry Potter films by the time they got bigger in scale and more concerned with special effects, people already loved and cared about the people.

I liked this but didnt love it. There were so many inconsistencies and plot holes. If there are any diehard potter fans on here then you'll know what I mean. Kind of trying to enjoy it for what it is but it messes with canon so hard XD

My son and I, both HP fans loved it. I felt this new film was so much better than the first.

I enjoyed it and it was visually stunning but I can't help but feel it was a 2 hour long trailer for the next film!
