In the US they won’t rent you the car if you don’t have the appropriate DL.

Hi Maksol..! That is great news to hear that a 15 seater was fine for 10 of you. And, how exciting that you are off to Orlando any day now! Have a lovely time.

Yorkshire T - thank you for your photo too. I can't wait!

taylaboo - that's very reassuring, thank you.

I think that we will be fine with our 15 seater.

Hi, just to confirm as the DVLA doesn't expressively say yes or no, if you have a recent driving licences that allows you to drive a car and have had it for 2 years, can you drive a 15 seater?

When I check on DVLA it says I can drive a car with up to 8 passengers:

"Category B - if you passed your test on or after 1 January 1997
You can drive vehicles up to 3,500kg MAM with up to 8 passenger seats (with a trailer up to 750kg)."

But a different page says:

"If the minibus is not for ‘hire or reward’
You might be able to drive a minibus with up to 16 passenger seats using your current car driving licence as long as there’s no payment from or on behalf of the passengers (it’s not for ‘hire or reward’).

Conditions you must meet
You can drive a minibus within the UK as long as the following conditions apply:

you’re 21 or older
you’ve had your driving licence for at least 2 years
you meet the ‘Group 2’ medical standards if you’re over 70 - check with your GP if you’re not sure you meet the standards
you’re driving on a voluntary basis and the minibus is used for social purposes by a non-commercial body
the maximum weight of the minibus is not more than 3.5 tonnes - or 4.25 tonnes including specialist equipment for disabled passengers, for example a wheelchair ramp
you’re not towing a trailer"

Yes that’s correct because the mini bus isn’t category B but cat D1, expanding on my original post.

I think what DVLA says is immaterial. This is hiring in US, not U.K. Can you in the USA drive a minibus on a U.K. driving license, absolutely yes.

Yes,
We paid $25 for parking. Same category as a car.

In 2007 we had an 8 seater which was easily as long as the 15. Just less rows of seats so the luggage room was massive.

One tip I would give, when parking at the shops or restaurants etc I would park with the rear end facing down an aisle within the car park, it was much easier to reverse out then. If I couldn't get a space there I would reverse into a normal bay as I find it easier than reversing out. Although people will say that in Florida you should drive into a bay but we never had any hassle with it.
