So it’s like hiring somebody’s private car from them. What happens if it expires on the first day, how is it replaced, if it is at all?

Just abandon it on the OBT and let it get 'reclaimed'

These seem to be popping up everywhere. We have one here, Turo cover UK and Germany also, a quick google shows numbers of them in the UK.

For a short term where you just need a car for a day, or want to try one you're thinking of buying similar it 'seems' ok, but not for a holiday, even a holiday in your own country, the lack of backup would turn me right off.

There seems to be a lot of trust involved, the renter has to believe that the hirer has the cover they claim, the car has been maintained correctly, no faults etc. I would have thought that, in the US particularly, the renter could be leaving themselves open to all sorts of law suits from third parties in the event of something going wrong. Not for me I think.

Few of my friends have used them a few times now in Vegas, you can opt for Turos fully covered insurance also- they paid around $140 per day for a 4 year old 911 and $200 a day for a GTR.

A 4 year old 911 with no history capable of 180mph plus. Is $140 a good deal, or are you trusting your life to a cheap deal? Each to their own but not for me.
And if you say you are only going to do 70’ then what’s the point

This is where the market lies for specific interesting cars not a Ford Mondeo.
You are 100% as price is 50% less renting a new from a usual supplier personally always have the newest as no doubt 1 day rentals only.

Don't really agree with no history, any hire car you get could have a hidden past... People decide what's right for them. - maybe its not a cheap deal, maybe hire companies are just over priced... ever thought of that ?

Example -
turo/rentals/cars/nv/las...rchId=gquVZkhR

So Alamo etc would use a rebuilt write off?

And did you notice that the example was supplied around the third Nov with very worn front tyres and a cut on one too. Nice to get a high performance car with that. I suppose that’s reflected in the cheaper price.
If you had booked that car, and arrived at the airport found it has worn out front tyres, would you take it? I assume that as it is hired from an individual there wouldn’t be another car available. Would you then just take it with those tyres on it.
You don’t need me to say my answer.
But each to their own, just my opinion.
