Car equivalent
Hi I have been blessed with having been on holiday to Orlando numerous times, DH always drives as he loves driving big SUVs however I am heading over there without him for a week with just my son . I drive a q3 can anyone tell me the American equivalent. I have tried to drive a suburban etc but just too big . Also it’s my first time driving so nervous to say the least .
Thanks

I’ve been over on my own with my son and the driving is so easy try not to stress over it. Are you just wanting a smaller SUV like a RAV4 then or does it have to be an Audi? If it’s just a regular SUV maybe book with Alamo then you can choose from the row of cars available.

If I don't get a mini van becuase we need the seating, I get a compact car or maybe an intermediate. I find the smaller cars much easier to drive when you are unfamiliar with the area. IMHO no one needs to drive a suburban with 2 people in the car.
Make sure you have a GPS or maps program to help with navigation. |

Thank you im thinking of a Ford Focus or similar. I’m afraid the last 3 times we went it was just the two of us and DH still had a suburban 🙄 . It’s part of his holiday he says. Anyway I think a focus would be about right for a 1st time driver . Thanks for your replies

The focus sits in the intermediate category, of course it's not a given that you'll get one, but when we hired one we had a Hyundai Elantra, which was pretty much the same size as the Astra I drive in the UK.

The Q3 sized car is an Intermediate SUV.
Obviously the Q3 is Audi so regarded as premium brand you need to look in this area. If badge appeal does not matter for a few days then just pick an Inter SUV as its same size. Enjoy and as always personal choice..

OP. Good advice from DuncanB above - Intermediate SUV
If you are used to the elevated position of a Q3 here I would maintain that with a hire car hence the Int SUV would be the best in my view. Or maybe a Standard SUV as weirdly they are sometimes cheaper than their smaller counterparts. Happy hunting.
