Boston History Tour October 2018: Day 5
Still an early start but we took the opportunity to have a wander around Plymouth. It's a lovely little town and on our list to go back to. First stop was the Blue Blinds Bakery for breakfast. Waffles French toast, cream, fruit, maple syrup and apple cider. Best breakfast ever! We had to go see Plymouth Rock! We were too early for the waterfront exhibition so we left it this time. There were brightly painted lobsters all over town and of course we HAD to take photos with them all... The seafront felt very English but in a very clean and new American way. Once we'd had a good walk around town and picked up some lunch bits, we headed to the Grist Mill. If you're looking for action packed holidays we're possibly not the report to read. We love a good mill museum! The tour was very detailed into the history of Plymouth and how central the mill was the growing population. Also about the conservation work going on in the area now. We headed out of Plymouth at about midday. We wanted to go to Cape Cod to have a look around. I really wanted to go to Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket but there was just no time. Next time! Instead we made do with a run around the beach at South Cape. And to eat our rather delicious rainbow bagels! We stopped at Mashpee on the way back but it started to rain quite heavily. Instead we headed to Walmart for supplies! The boys minds were blown a bit especially by all the Halloween stuff! We managed to come home without too much but did find lots of M&Ms, honeybuns and PopTarts! We had to return the car by 6 so headed back into Boston (less swearing this time!). The guy from the hire place gave us a lift back this time which took all of 10minutes. So much closer by car! No photos from the evening, but we headed out for a quick walk into Jamaica Plains. |
