Mobile Do we need to turn our voicemail off with Vodafone?

We fly tomorrow. Just wanted to check if we need to turn our voicemail off? We're all with Vodafone. Just don't want to find we get charged if people leave messages?!

yeah you're probably best to turn it all off if you're not bothered about the calls... here's a good page about it:-

Theres no need, however having voicemail on will force the call to VM after a max of 30 seconds compared to ringing until the connection times out.

It wont cost you anything for people to leave VM, however it will cost you a min of £6 per day in on a roaming package to listen to the said voicemail. That £6 then gives you 24 hours to utlise your package data and minutes...

unless of course you have the go further roaming package.

I would recommend turning voicemail off. We got charged in July for accessing a voicemails that we didn't actually access! We did get the money back but only after a lot of to-ing and fro-ing with them

Thought it's now free USA calls, and no £6 a day change. Since Sept

Not with Vodafone. Still £6 a day, went to NYC in November and got charged. Changing to the EE max plan when my contract runs out!

It depends totally on what contract you are on. I renewed mine in early October and my new contract allows me to use it in USA with NO daily charges. I just use my data, minutes and texts as if I am in England. I travelled to Minneapolis at the end of October and was not charged anything other than my usual monthly charge.

What you need to look for is what plan you are on and when you signed up.

'Included with all Red Entertainment plans sold with a phone from 15 August 2018, or a Red Entertainment SIM only plan after 4 September 2018, Global Roaming Plus lets you enjoy roaming in all our Roam-free destinations, and 29 of our most popular Roam-further destinations [PDF: 1.86MB], with no daily fee. That’s no roaming charges in 77 destinations worldwide – including the USA, Australia and Canada – making Vodafone the UK’s best network for roaming.'
