Hi guys, I’m new to the forum, I’ve done Disney 8 times at various stages of my life and now I’m planning for 2020 with my wife and 3 year old son (he’ll be 4 1/2 when we go)
My first dilemma is flights, I’m comparing flights from Manchester with Virgin on the 747 and with TUI on the Dreamliner. We went to Mexico for our honeymoon on a Dreamliner and loved it but I’m not sure how Virgins flights would compare. I know they are renowned for their service but the planes must be getting old by now.

Any advice would be great thanks

Hi and a warm welcome
VA 747 fleet are marked for withdrawal around 2020, being replaced by Airbus A350 but not much info apart from that.
Inside they are still very nice and I think I would grab the chance to have one more trip on a 747.
At the end of the day though, price and service is what counts!

Hello and welcome. The DIBB is an invaluable source of information. Sorry I can't help regarding the flights. We have only flown with Thomas Cook and virgin to Orlando. We preferred Thomas Cook but that said I would always choose the cheapest option as the differences are so small. To me though a flight is more a means of getting from A to B. We fly from Manchester.

Hi and welcome.

The Virgin 747s are still going strong. The entertainment is excellent especially for films which change every calendar month so if you can fly there in one calendar month and fly back the next calendar month, there will be some new films for the return flight.

I would recommend sitting as near to the front as you can as the front of the plane exits first.

If you are planning to fly with VA, its worth opening a VA credit card for the air miles. 3000 air miles = approx £20 discount with miles and money. Use as many air miles as you have.

Also, we use to hire an airport mini bus for the journey to Manchester Airport, we now use the T2 Meet and Greet parking. You need to make sure you can fit the suitcases in you car!

Hello and welcome to The Dibb. We always fly Virgin, service meals and in-flight entertainment is great. I hear good things about the dreamliner, but people always say the service, meals and in-flight entertainment isn't up to scratch against Virgin. Because of this, we don't have any desire to change. Everyone has a different preference though and even though the same people we know who have flown on the dreamliner say virgin is better service, they still book the dreamliner. it cant be so bad then
