We have a normal membership, think costs about £30 a year, we get the booklet through every few weeks and no there is no discounts in it , just the offers that are coming to the store the following week so he isn’t keeping anything from you at all.

Costco isn’t about saving money lol, unless it’s toilet roll and kitchen roll
It’s about different choices, unique stuff you don’t get anywhere else.
We usually buy same things just every time we go as it’s not particularly cheap imo.

The petrol is generally cheaper. We mainly get toilets and kitchen rolls!

The meat may not always work out the cheapest but the quality is generally high. Some of the clothing and footware works out good value.

You do have to compare like for like to see if its worth it for you. You cannot conpare the meat with the meat fron Tesco for example as Costco meat is of a lot higher quality.

We call it the £100 shop as we generally don’t spend less than this

As for the original question, my boss forgot a couple of years ago to renew our membership and I was left with a barrow full at the check out, I was told by the staff that as I had been a named member for over 12 months, I could join as an individual member in my own right so that’s what I did there and then.

I hope this helps.

ETA, I have also never had any discount vouchers.

There is an online offer for £25 off a £100 spend as Black Friday Deal for members only valid from 19/11 - 26/11 with code BLACKFRIDAY15 (can be used once per account) which may be what the op saw on the offer booklet. This is the first time I have seen them have this type of offer and I have been a member for many years. The only other way I know for getting a "discount" is using an AMEX rewards card as points can be exchanged for Costco Vouchers.

No vouchers this end either.

Join in your own right if you can, it’ll save you the worry. However, you’ll still not be getting vouchers unless they have them in the booklets which you can also pick up on your way in. This is very rare though. The money off deals are usually to be found online.

Costco, in terms of saving money, isn’t a great deal. It really does depend on what you’re buying and how often.

The eligibility can be found here: costco/membership

I detest Supermarket shopping so like Costco as we can bulk buy and don't have to go often.

I'm ruthless on what we get. Loo roll, kitchen roll, tissues, Flash, dishwasher tablets, baked beans, All Bran, Marmalade. Then go!

However we need new phones for the house. I have my eye on a Panasonic set. The quad set is £30 cheaper than the trio set on Amazon so they do have good deals.

We piggy back on my Sons account.
