C&L South African Adventure Oct 2018 - Day 11 - Exploring Cape Town

Day 11

We had probably our only lie in of the holiday! We didn’t wake up until 9.30am and M had made us breakfast.

We decided we were just going to go out exploring Cape Town today, we got ready and left at 10.30am and headed to Kirstenbosch Gardens. It was about £4 each to enter. We spent some time walking around the gardens and also went on the canopy walk.

After we finished we headed over to Camps Bay which is a famous area of the town. I popped to the Hard Rock shop to get my t-shirt (I get one everywhere we go).

We worked out where we had abseiled the day before.

We wanted some lunch but didn’t fancy anything big so we just popped to the local spa. We ended up buying a pie each and some donut type things for dessert. We went and ate it on the beach. This came to 40RN (about £2.20).

We walked back to the car and headed to Old Cape Town, we walked through the markets and to the castle and gardens.

We drove around Bo-Kaap and looked at the coloured houses. This has become quite a popular tourist attraction, we actually saw coaches stopping. We just drove around quickly.

We headed over to the V&A waterfront to have another wander round as it had been a bit manic the day before. We stopped for a drink and enjoyed the atmosphere, two drinks came to 90RN (£5).

We stopped in a little shop and got some gifts for family, including shot glasses, bracelets and bits and pieces. This all came to around £15.

Parking had cost 10RN and we drove back to the house, stopping at a super spar to pick up beer and wine. We also got some big bottles of water.

It was in the news earlier in the year about Cape Town’s water shortages and houses were still on restrictions, albeit not as strict. We had to be careful with the amount of water we were using, turning off while shampooing/ brushing teeth etc.

We had dinner with C&M and just relaxed with a glass of wine before going to bed.

Next - day 12
