BA planes into Tampa
Good morning. Hopefully someone can give me some info on the plane that BA use on the Tampa route.
Are they newer planes than the Orlando ones? Any thing you think that you wish you had known before you flew that route that may be helpful? Any info would be much appreciated as we have only flown into Orlando before. Many thanks |

Well, the aircraft used come from the same LGW 777 fleet that is used for MCO, but MCO nearly always gets a 3 class version and mostly the refurbished aircraft these days.
TPA, currently at least (bearing in mind he refurb programme is ongoing, so this evolves), has more of a mixture. Quite frequently a 4 class aircraft gets assigned even though it’s a 3 class route, with the First cabin being used for overflow if needed. The 4 class LGW 777s are not refurbished yet, though one of them is currently being refurbished. When 3 class 777s are used, quite often it is a refurbished version. |

Flew to and from Tampa recently and both planes were non-refurbed. The airport itself is a joy to go through and is our preferred option.

We had a non refurbished 777 coming out a couple of weeks ago and a refurbished 777 going home (assuming they don't change it).

We flew into Tampa from Gatwick last year for the first time. I was a bit concerned as had always flown into mco too but I needn’t have been
It was an absolute joy! I think the plane was a bit older & not as good tv etc but the staff were wonderful. Tampa airport was a breeze & a joy to navigate - much much quieter than mco. Don’t worry about it! We’ll definitely be using it again Xx

Flew into TPA on 23rd Nov and home on 6th Dec. Both planes were refurbished and in fact from the moment we booked flights in April the seating plan showed as refurbed.
TPA is a joy to fly in and out of.

So pleased to read all these positive reviews.
We’re landing on a Friday at 16:00 so a bit worried about the rush hour drive into Orlando but apart from that Tampa airport sounds like a good choice. |

We flew into Tampa yesterday on a BA refurb plane. The seats were fine, we did have the bulkhead, but the aisles are very narrow. The seat back screens are a great improvement on before and I found enough to watch.
Meal wise, at lunch there were 2 choices, chicken tikka masala or veggie pasta. Later on a Magnum and then half a chicken Caesar sandwich and a slice of banana cake for tea. I had the gluten free meal which was a chicken dish, a bread roll, salad and fruit salad. Later on my food bag included box of sultanas, pk of sliced apple and 3 grapes and a mandarin orange, no carbohydrate. We landed early and were through security within 30 mins but then had to wait for a further 30 mins for the luggage. It's certainly not as convenient picking up the hire car as before when you just crossed the road but everything is well signposted and people to direct you on to the train to the garage area. We had a BA fly drive so were with Avis, we went straight to the Avis Preferred floor where again our name wasn't on the board (one day!). It only took 5 minutes to sort things and we had the key to our 7 seater (Dodge Town and Country) which had done around 500 miles. It seemed easier getting on our way from the garage and we noticed there was a layby as you left for setting up satnavs. Not sure if there was one before but we could never get it sorted before until we were well on the road. We were heading to Rotonda West so can't help with directions to Orlando. Hope this isn't too garbled but I've been up since silly o'clock. Happy Holidays everyone.
