Cameras I tent to go for Sony. Both my big camera and camcorder are Sony. On recommendation from a friend who works in video I got Vegas for my editing and have always stuck with it. It is intuitive and clear. iMovie is good to start. If you have a Mac not a PC then Vegas is not a choice for you. However it works really well and can be bought relatively cheaply.
