Now that the free nights offer is on at Disney, my 10 night holiday at CBR is £282 cheaper. That means that I have effectively "paid" £28.20 per night for the meal deal. I think that's a pretty good deal for 3 of us. £9.40 per person per day for meals, drinks and snacks. Oh, and that is without taking account of the $100 gift card
Edit: I think the Value resorts make a closer decision on which offfer is best as the Dining plan wasn't so valuable for them

Have you included paying for the dining plan in your calculations to give a like for like comparison or are you just comparing room rates? I'm struggling to see how 2 free nights could cover the cost of the dining plan for 3 people.

No, that's why I said that I had "paid" £28.20 per night for the deal. If I add in the meal plan then it works out much higher than I paid - but that isn't the point I was looking at.

Don't quite follow your logic. You haven't paid anything for the plan as your comparing rack rate room prices with a free night offer - a full rate to a discount which aren't directly comparable. To look at it properly you look at room prices when free dining ends and there is no other offer on, or you add on the dining pan to get a proper like for like comparison. As long as you're happy though, that's what counts

My logic is "How much have I paid and how much could I have got it for". I don't care what the rack rate is, I just care how much the holiday is costing me. At the moment I could have got the holiday for a certain price, I paid a higher price but I got a dining plan thrown in. To me, I got a better deal as the plan effectively cost me £28 per night (the cost I paid with the plan compared to the cost I could pay now without the plan). I consider an additional cost of £28 per night to be good value.
Now, perhaps you were thinking that I was answering the original question "Do prices go up when 'free' Dining plan included? " which I was not. I was just comparing the current offer to the one I got. I do not dispute that the rack rate doesn't change.

No, I didn't think you were answering the original question, and like I said, as long as you're happy, that's all that matters
Personally I don't just look at the room rate in isolation. I look at the holiday as a whole, so I compare room rate with free dining and discounted rate plus paying for dining was my holiday is comprised of 2 elements - the room and the dining plan

I always want the dining plan.
So I compare free dining vs free nights offer with dining included. We always find that the free dining option is cheaper for us. If we weren't fussed on having the dining plan then we'd opt for the free nights offer. It's just up to you what you want out of the holiday. |
