Universal credit

Wondered if anyone has experience of applying for UC. I was going to do an ESA claim for my son but we are in a fill UC area so have done the online form today. Just seems a very generic form with nowhere to really explain his needs. He is currently at college and under ESA could claim while studying but not sure if the same for UC.
It says he needs to have an interview but can I go with him as he will have no idea?
Also says he needs a fit to work letter from the Dr, he is physically fit for work but struggles to understand the rules and politics of work environment. He worked at McD for 6 months but really struggled and was let go.
He has ASD and ADHD.

Well what a ridiculous system, 20 min appointment to be given a unique login number and explain we have to come back again next week to see a work coach who will decide if he can take the next step abd be awarded the payments and get a fit to work letter from the Dr.
Why they couldnt have told us that on the phone or by email and then just had 1 appointment with the work coach!

I can thoroughly recommend you subscribe to the benefitsandwork website. They publish step by step guides for every stage of the journey including tips on how to submit the best possible claim. They also run a forum which should be able to help you with any specific questions about claiming.
