JFK- time from landing til hotel

I was in NY on business last week. Arrived at terminal 8 about 5pm on Tuesday - it took 10 mins for immigration.

Train into New York as staying just by our offices on Times Square. The walk is less than 15 minutes even with a case (straight up 8th Avenue)

Fare is just over $15 for peak (including $5 for AirTran). You pay at Jamaica after you get off the AirTran but before you go through to the LIRR. Just get a ticket for the LIRR then add the metrocard AirTran to it before you pay.

The twice we’ve been it’s taken 45 mins to be outside getting a cab and about 45 mins drive into Manhattan, both times was late morning.

It was just over 3hrs when I went 1st week of november from landing to getting to my hotel. 20mins wait for my transfer to arrive at JFK for me and traffic getting to Times Sq was pretty bad. It was NY Marathon weekend so not sure if that had a bit of a knock on effect.

last thursday afternoon out of the airport at taxi rank in 45 mins... but taxi too nearly 2 hours to get into manhattan, it was heaving in queens and signs up all over to avoid the tunnels, so used queensboro bridge, along with a million others..
