This is so big it won't even fit in their carrier bags and they have a cardboard crate with wheels for people to pull it home from the shops

As the link you posted says, the old MF kit had 5,195 pieces (I think originally they just said "over 5000 pieces").
This kit is different to that one and has almost 50% more pieces.

I'm kicking my self that we didn't buy this at the time, it was around $499 at the Lego store at DTD. We bought the original Death Star which DS built and held pride of place in his room for years. We now have all the pieces, the box and the instructions stored safely and it's his retirement plan

As I've remarked before my Statue of Liberty now goes for around $4,000 to $6,000 depending on who is selling.
If you have the box and instructions in good condition and 100% of the bricks then rare sets can still command large amounts. Its about do you want to buy a Lego set and build it or do you want to stash it away and see what you can get for it in the future. Edited at 09:46 AM. |

Anywhere between 5 to 50% depending on what the set is. There are lots of other factors like how much a buyer might want the set.

Its not that big... Someone is making a nearly 1.5m long model of an Imperial Super Star Destoyer. Its not an official lego version but one he designed himself. It has over 30,000 parts I think and I do beleive you can buy the plans to make it yourself. Its on one of the Lego fan sites.
