I just walked into my bank and asked. I had virtually no details and it was 20 years ago. Got £3k for 2 different loans. They said their records didn’t go back that far so they would just give me ‘the standard amount’!

Thanks for this. I’m going to give them a go.
I know for a fact in my teenage years that I had PPI on a Dorothy Perkins account and Debenhams. I clearly remember they told you you’d be more likely to be approved if you ticked the box!
I just don’t have any of the info so as per another poster, better to have 90% of something than 100% of nothing

Hi
I am currently claiming for my Debenhams card and they also told me I had it on a Etam card but I'm not going through a claim company, it is Santander that is now dealing with all PPI claims for Debenhams etc, I just called the number and they were able to find all my info, I had nothing no account number, statements etc.
Although they turned down my claim and it has now gone to FOS but seems they refuse most first time, not holding my breath but will be good if something comes from it.

I went through the financial conduct authority website (FCA) and it has an a-z list of companies and who to claim from. I went though them and have contacted 6 companies, 4 of which I have had back saying that I did pay ppi on them so 4 claims in! I would try doing this before contacting a company who take a fee

I did it myself and found out I had ppi on a Halifax mortgage, a hsbc flexiloan and credit card and a burtons store card.

All claims rejected, Halifax and hsbc said there is no reason to think I wasn’t given full info and Santander for burtons said as I signed up in store is was on a ‘non advised’ basis

Wish I did it through a company as may have had a little more success - oh well too late now I suppose

Two of mine are with Santander and they have sent a letter asking for more information about sickness etc contracts etc. I was a local government employee so had adequate cover for sick and redundancy and still lived with my parents. I don’t have contracts from 26 years ago. Did you have any proof to send them?

Nothing to stop you Appeling or going to another company. Just because they rejected your claim

Exactly, Santander are known for rejecting claims first time, I am appealing mine with the FOS, very easy I called them and they took some details and sent out forms to complete and now just waiting.
They told me the same as it was in store application.
