Interesting as I have no issue getting my GoPro footage into it

Could always suggest transcoding in Handbrake to a h.264 file?

Do you import it straight from the GoPro or do you use GoPro Quick in the first instance?

It’s driving me mad because I’m missing out on some great editing features.

I import straight into Resolve, however I only shoot 1080p 50/60fps (EU/USA) in Protune on a Hero4 Silver so MP4 h.264 encoded

If you shoot in 4K on a 5 I think but definitely a 6 it records in h.265 which Resolve doesn't support which you'd need to import via Quick or transcode via handbrake

I have a Panasonic TZ100.
I have just ordered a GoPro Hero 7 Black, as the image stabilization is incredible as are the new time lapse videos. It's out next week and looks like it may save GoPro it's that good.

I always shoot 2.7k, I’ll try again. To be honest it’s been a while since I last tried, I’m might have better luck this time

For those who don’t know, don’t buy one of the new Hero 7 White or Silver (the Black is fantastic though). Better than those two cheaper cameras is a Hero 5. But don’t buy a Hero 5 either, buy a standard Hero, it’s a Hero 5 inside and a simple hack by downloading firmware onto an SD card transforms it into a full Hero 5 for half price.

I can’t wait to try the 7, I’ve got the 5 at the moment but I find the sound isn’t as good as the older ones. The hot tip seems to be the 4, I’ve seen so many people using them for action POV shots.

Although I’m not a blogger, I’d say that a proper cam would be better for blogging rather than a GoPro.

A proper camera better in low light.

The two suggested cameras above earlier in the thread may be a little obsolete soon, due to lack of 4k capability.

On the new 7 sound has been improved. It deteriorated because microphones of course had to be waterproofed as it doesn't need a case. The 7 has a new microphone membrane which is better.

Would IMovie on the MAC be suitable to start with beginner vlogs and maybe something more as we get used to it?

Or do people have other suggestions? Not looking to become a professional vlogger...

More just to creat family / holiday videos.

We have DLP, Bluestone, Center Parcs and WDW all coming up in the next 7 months... and really want to start getting into this now with the little one.

Any tips on how to vlog also appreciated.

Thanks in advance

I'm in a similar boat. Undecided on whether to keep using my panasonic tz70 or go for the canon, which will be much better but of course an expense. Re editing i downloaded the free version of lightworks. Still learning but it seems good? Nothing to compare it to though so perhaps it's not!

Are you thinking of getting any other equipment?

I use DxO (not free) for my photos as they regocnise the lens/body combo and correct for any distortions. I also have an old version of the film pack to apply retro film types and colours. For video i'll second DaVinci Resolve, only just started using it, but i can't beleive it's free, great tool. Mosschops
