September weather

Have got oh agreement to go back Now its either going to be early May 2021 we really enjoyed that time on a previous visit or it will be early September 2020. I would love to go in 2020 as its nearer ! I am concerned about the weather. For all of you that have been at that time have you chosen that time again?

I haven’t been Early September, we did late September/Early October. I imagine early September will be still hot and humid with chance of heavy storms in the afternoon.

We did early April in 2011 and the weather was perfect. Hot, not too humid and dry.

Also have only done may! Always enjoyed April/May weather.

However, I must ask kasalic, how did you find the weather in late September/early Oct?

It’s not a given that it will rain every day but you could get a whole week of pretty much rain all day. It’s a time of year where it can be very wet but we’ve also had trips where we had 2 storms over a fortnight. So far this week it rained briefly Sunday and Monday but nothing today yet. It is hurricane season but in all our years of coming at this time Irma was the only hurricane that affected our holiday.

We've just got back, stayed 7th to 14th September and even though we saw many people posting about the rain we must have been really lucky... We only saw rain once and it was only for 20 mins. We were in AK one night and watched a video of someone in Universal that night, it was torrential rain there! So it's hard to say.

We were there from 25th August till 15th September - our first time that late. First week saw lots of afternoon thunder storms as was expected. However, the last two weeks we only saw a few showers. Certainly would consider going back at that time again.

We were there 6th to 20th. So hot 32-35 degrees with significant humidity. Locals said it was unusually hot. Only one rain storm in the 2 weeks but some great lightening storms in the distance.
I loved the heat

We go every September for 3 weeks; there this year 1st to 22nd; always on the Gulf Coast; been going in September 20-25 years.

This year was a very hot September; quite a few days equalled or beat the record for temperature on that day in September.
Our lowest temp was 92; car read 103 one day!

We visited Orlando for 1 day; we could feel how much more humid & heavy the air felt there compared to the Gulf coast.

We always expect rain for a short spell in the afternoon/evening but this year was very dry; drove through a shower or two on say 4 days but within 5-10 minutes had driven out of it; did not get caught outside in any rain ourselves this year.

Our last 2 weeks were very dry; apparently Florence in the Carolinas brought better weather for us as it drove hotter, drier air towards Florida.

We know September is peak hurricane season but the season itself runs June-November; you take the chance; in 20-25 years we've been affected just twice by hurricanes.
