Mobile First time the wait time was so wrong!

Got in line to meet Mickey last Friday.
It was a 70 minute wait showing on the board. Normally I wouldnt even entertain the idea but the weather was bad and it was his birthday week so I wanted to do it.
It turns out that the wait was 2 hours!
I think that they had only one room working; the other room was for Santa.
Surely they got to have got more performers working when the wait times are this busy.
Only time this has happened to me when the wait times have been so off.

Nope, this is our typical character meet experience too. Weve been about 20 people deep and had to abandon due to excessive interaction time.

We had this in Princess Pavilion last year, queue said 60 minutes, was in there for 135 minutes! Didn't help that there was a couple in front of us who were holding a space for about 15 of their family members who then all insisted in going in individually - i made the CM aware but they couldn't have cared less!

This is quite normal for DLP M+Gs. They can take an extremely long time.

We joined a queue for Peter Pan with around 20 people.
We were standing there for about an hour in the blazing sunshine with two kids.
The people in front if us took single photos then various group photos, then autographs, then stand and talk to the characters for 5/10 mins. The CMs did not rush them through at all. SO slow.

Also people with special access is the invisible queue that slows everything down as well.

So we now select a few characters to visit or we would just spend the day queuing.

Compared to WDW 20 people would be done in 5-10mins.

My rule at DLP - if there are more than 6 people in front of you, don’t join the queue.

The characters at DLP are brilliant - none of the ‘hug, sign, pose, next!’ of WDW but instead they interact with each person individually and in depth. Which is fab, but makes for long queues!

We joined a very short queue for Jack Skellington last week. There were about 5 families in front of us, and a small group of disabled children to the side. We were there almost an hour.

I was astounded at the wait times for the Princess Pavillion and Mickey Meet when we were there, and to read that the actual wait is often more

I think it makes you really appreciate the true value of character meals / breakfasts. I'd much rather pay to do that then stand in a line for hours on end.

Amen, that rings so true, not thought of it until i read your comment. The character meal was great. (apart from the family with the biggest ≈≈≈≈ dad in the universe sat next to us! - they had about 4 kids, but guess who took over every picture! )

We found this with the Santa queue at Meet Mickey last year. There was no wait time sign, but the CM was telling people it was 30 mins from the point where we joined the queue, about 15 families from the entrance. An hour and a half later, we’d moved about 10 spaces forward, and we finally met Santa after a 2 hour wait.

I think we’d have done it regardless, as we were leaving on Christmas Eve, and we’d chosen to wait and meet Santa at DLP rather than booking anything at home. The children got great interaction with Santa, and lots of time to chat and have photos, which was the positive side to such a long wait. It would just have been better to have been told a more accurate wait time when we arrived.
