Another recommendation for a catamaran trip (swimming with turtles and snorkelling over a wreck) is Silver Moon - excellent trip, done it twice.
Also, don’t rule out renting a car, we’ve done it a couple of times and it’s a great way to fully explore a beautiful island. It’s only small so getting lost is half the fun. |

Another vote for Calabaza best day of our holiday and great value for money with lovely food and drinks. We also hired a Car for 4 days and took trip to the Caves and drove round a bit.

We were in Barbados last new year , stayed here airbnb/rooms/8266545 , not sure if I am allowed to post links . Its Annabelles on Paynes Bay , we had a basic 1 bed apartment , right on Paynes bay . Next door there are $4 million plus apartments and at the end of Paynes bay is Sandy Lane . Its such a waste to go all inclusive , Barbados is a friendly , easy to get around Island . Restaurants vary from the stupidly expensive to the really reasonable , and tbh not much varience in the food . There are loads of self catering places bw

We went to Barbados in October this year and absolutely loved it, our party consisted of 2 adults and 2 kids aged 15 and 10.
We flew out on 15th October and the weather was quite unsettled for the first few days but got sunnier as the 10 days we were there’s for went on. We booked with BA and stayed at the Hilton and would thoroughly recommend both, we stayed on the executive floor which was fab. We hired a car and the driving was very easy as they drive in the same side as the UK. It’s a fabulous island to explore. I have no negatives to say about our whole experience in Barbados, so much so we are going again next year which we have never done before. Go for it, you will love it 😍 |

Thanks looks great. What are prices like for eating and drinking out undecided whether all inclusive would be a better option as looking for a cheaper holiday next year.

Eating out can be quite expensive but we tended to go a bit off the beaten track where the locals go which was much cheaper. If we were staying at the hotel for the day we filled up at breakfast, had lunch by the pool which was fairly reasonably priced and then had the free h’dourves in the executive lounge in the evening. It was plenty of food for us and we are big eaters!
We looked at going all inclusive but the prices were extortionate! |

Our all inclusive was cheap 4500 for 4 fir two weeks . Just looked at Airbnb link about at 130 a night so thats 1800 plus flight. We booked for 4 but BIL booked for two and it was 3200 with VH all inc. flights, seats, transfers and hotel.
I think if you get a good deal then it's worth it. You can then still eat out if you choose. Savannah beach has 3 restaurants, buffet by beach. Al a carte, noodles, all amazing and included. We still ate out too but found it really expensive or really basic. |

We loved it. There were several room options and next time we'd choose a different one. We are 2A 2K, boy 12 girl 9. They had to share a double bed which didn't go down well but we had a room with direct pool access so worth it. Some have bunks and some are two level with single bed, sofa plus a separate bedroom.
The beach was great for snorkeling or 10 minutes walk or free bus to a sandy one. On main road between Bridgetown to the left and St Lawrence Gap or Oistens to the right. We saw a turtle laying eggs and the locals releasing baby turtles. DS wants to go back next year. Plus we used departure beach on the last day which felt like it extended the holiday too Any questions just ask. Edited at 10:31 PM. |
