BA bronze membership

We usually fly with Virgin/ delta. I think we understand their flying club...
We have 2 flights, booked and paid to USA with BA,for 2019. Do we have to have flown 2 flights to qualify for the bronze tier of BA or do they need to only be booked? Just wondering as we are considering whether we need to book our seats for November or not

I recon it’s after flights taken as that’s when points are awarded once journey is completed.

Yep you need to have completed the flights to get the tier points to move up the BAEC levels.

Just to clarify, you don't qualify for bronze with 2 flights, you need 300 tier points of which 2 flights must be on BA.

Technically they only need to be ticketed by BA under a BA flight number. You can actually fly on a oneworld member such as AA flight but with a BA codeshare to qualify.

To progress to bronze you will need 300 tier points with minimum of 2 flights, as you can probably get that tier points for 1 first class ticket.
Or if you haven't collected 300 tier points but travel on 25 flights you will get bronze status.
Its not so easy since the points system changed.
