Christmas Day 2019 - Birthday Character Meal/Or Something Else?
Hello
I'm seeking advice from experienced folks here We're planning on visiting next year (21st Dec - 4th Jan) My son's birthday is on Christmas Day, he'll be 12yrs old. We really want to treat him to a character lunch/dinner in a Disney park that day and I'm not exactly sure how to go about this and costs, etc. Or do you know of somewhere else that is equally as good to do on a birthday that might not be Disneyesque? If you can point me in the right direction, give me useful advice, that would be fab! Many, many thanks! Edited at 11:32 AM. |

You may find Christmas Day in the parks is extremely busy and unpleasant. I would avoid MK. We did Epcot because it is a big park and it was lovely, it took the crowds really well. Garden Grill might be a good option for a character meal. I can’t advise on costs, as we are always on the dining plan so never take any notice! I think it is usually $60 per adult and $30 per child (ish). There is always Tusker house in AK too. Or even a restaurant at a Disney hotel, chef mickeys at contemporary? There are loads of choices!

Another good option for a 12yr old boy might be T-Rex in Disney Springs.
For Christmas day you will need to be ready to book 180 days out to get a decent choice of restaurants and times. In the case of T-Rex they only release some of their tables to Disney so if you can't get one on line contact them directly via the website. A Landry card is also an option as it will give you preferred seating and a discount on your birthday. If you want something real fun you could try Hoop de Doo (at Fort Wilderness) which is a wild west dinner show.

My 11 year old boy really likes garden grill at Epcot as do we.
We will be in Disney on Christmas Day this year. We are going to HS and eating at the Wave in the contemporary on Christmas night, it has a special Christmas menu which sounds good. I’ll be doing a food report.
