Just wondering if you book an inside cabin can you upgrade to a balcony at a later date, also do you get the best price if you book with them direct

I couldn't on my last cruise with RCL which I had booked online direct. I would have had to completely rebook and forfeit my deposit. They do refundable deposits although I didn't see that when booking through the UK site but have seen it on the US site. I have booked with a US agent for my next one, I still had to keep an eye out for price drops and then email the agent but with the refundable fare I was able to upgrade cabin and get much reduced price.

If you book with a US TA then yes you can. We did this on our RCL cruise. I changed from an inside to a balcony around 6 weeks before and it cost around £200 to £300 more to do so, cheaper than if I had booked a balcony in the first place. You stand the risk of all the balconies being sold out though.
