OP, I'm afraid to say you've hit the one snag with Apple devices (I'm sure Android fans will come up with many more) and that is they don't play well with others

You can buy cables to connect the Ipad to the TV, or buy an apple TV device. The cable works for most things but they put restrictons on some of the apps like netflix so you can't screen share.

AppleTV is easiest but most expensive.

Chrome cast is cheApest but a little harder (not a lot). You need to add the photos and video to the Google Photos app to ‘cast’ to the tv. You may even be able to cast from google photos to your smart tv without the chrome cast device.
