Think we need to start a separate sub-forum so we discuss our n+1 bike purchases

The worst part of his whole journey however is near his works where he has to get off his bike to cross a busy A road at pedestrian traffic lights. The number of people who drive through these lights on red is ridiculous. Cameras really need to be installed.

So yes anyone riding a bike in the dark without lights and reflective clothing is definitely an idiot but there are idiots in all walks of life.
I've lost count of the number of times I've nearly been hit by cyclists when crossing the road at pedestrian traffic lights - loads of them drive through them when they're red. The most common one is near where I work and I have to use it every day as I do the work banking and have to cross that road to get to the bank. On one occasion the cyclist dodged me and fell off his bike - he then had a right go at me for causing him to fall off his bike! Luckily other people saw what happened and said he was in the wrong for ignoring the red light.

Perfectly legal.
Yes, although the Highway Code does advise that cyclists should ride in single file on narrow or busy roads and when riding round bends. It's not illegal to ride two abreast in these situations but it is frowned upon by the HC.

Its not frowned on, just states clearly that you should ride single file on corners, busy roads and narrow roads.

If there were an accident in these situations and people were two abreast then they could be found to be at fault.

Well, that's what I meant. There's no law that states cyclists *must* ride single file on corners, busy roads and narrow roads. It's a "should", not a "must". It's advice on safe cycling, not a law.
