BA Seat selection

Hi all we are using BA for our first time and as there are many on here who have and still use them was wondering if anyone can help.

What are the seat selections like if you do not pay to select and wait for check in 24hrs before?
There will be 4 of us so would be looking at trying to grab 4 seats in the middle row

We fly Manchester to Heathrow this flight is not so much a bother its only an hour

But then the flight Heathrow to Miami is where we would be looking at sitting altogether.

Any experiences of how BA is, will there be many seats to choose from at 24 hours or do these flights get many who pay to choose in advance.

fly out friday 13th september if it makes any difference due to time of year
Any info much appreciated Thanks

Hi

We were going to wait until the 24 hour window this September but then it was getting increasingly booked up as people with various levels of loyalty tiers were able to select at 5 days out etc. There was only 2 of us but we wanted an aisle seat. We gave in and booked. Having said that the cost is not as much of an impact when there is only 2 of you travelling. As it turns out we would have got seats together as the flight was not full.

A word of warning though - BA increase the seat booking fee if they start to decrease in availability. We could have booked at gbp 28 per person, we waited and they went up to gbp 32 per person

Good luck xx

thanks for that seat selection is currently at £26 each way for the lower priced seats

We would not mind if we got split into 2 groups of 2 sitting together.

Whenever we've flown with BA to the US as 4 adults we have been sat together. I log on at exactly 24 hours and we have always been allocated 4 seats together, we are always prepared not to be sat together though.

Okay, only wanted to check as my sister travelled with her hubby and 2 kids this summer and was allocated 4 seats across the middle about 5 days before.

We usually pay but the seat selection for our booking (4 adults) was going to be about £550! I logged onto manage my booking exactly 24 hours before the MAN - LHR segment and got seats together for both flights. We were automatically given 4 across the middle for LHR - JFK but I switched them.

We all had the same experience coming home too.

Two of us flying BA Gatwick - Tampa in May. There are some 'two's' at the rear of the aircraft but BA have just increased the pre booking price to £65 each and that's each way! Booked these seats last year for the same journey at £58 each and BA changed the aircraft and we lost the 'two' and ended up with two seats in the middle row. According to BA there was no refund due. Talk about have your cake and eat it! Daylight robbery.

We always pay to book seats together, yeh it’s a hassle to pay but in grand scheme of how much holiday costs it’s not much extra to add on
