Help please avis car hire
Hi, we arrived last night and picked our car up at avis we booked through BA and had our car voucher to give them, they didn't even look at it, he gave us a long cardboard receipt that said $589 estimated payment, I asked why it said that and not 000 as we had the voucher and he said when we bring the car back we show the receipt and the voucher and we will get another receipt for 000, this doesn't sound right from what I have read on here, this is our first time renting through avis as we usually use car on the drive but this was so much cheaper we decided to book, please could anyone help.

If you linked the booking to the account which I suspect you did then I believe the vouicher will be taken off automatically. We did not show our voucher at all when we hired this way.

Although lot on here do say it needs to be 0 on leaving its when you get back that it is important. The receipt they give you when you return needs to be 0 or you query it immediately. I've often had it showing the rental amount but it is always 0 on returning it.
The advantage of ensuring it is 0 (and they should do it if you ask on pick-up) is you can see if they have added any extras. Last time out they tried to charge us for the BA free extra driver and so I spotted it straight away. If the $585 is against the car rental only then it should not be an issue but if it includes other items that is what needs to be addressed sooner rather than later. |

Hi, yes we joined avis preferred and linked the booked, we where just worried as we have read on here to always check there is a zero balance on your receipt and ours had an estimated payment of $589 so where worried we would be charged twice, thanks

I had the same this Oct and wasted over an hour on returning the car getting it all sorted. Sorted in the end but was a huge hassle for the lady in the kiosk as she ended up having to cancel the whole thing and re-issue the paperwork with the voucher credit. Just a heads up to leave plenty of time on your return to get it sorted. Enjoy your holiday, don't stress about it.

I can't speak for how BA and Avis handle things however for bookings through myself, the rental agreement must always say $0... If it has an amount showing, then thats what'll be charged to your card.
If you could list the items on your rental agreement that have an amount next to them or show accepted, I can tell you if they've added on the optional extra insurance. |

We had the rental value showing on our card when we left MCO but when we returned the car they replaced it with a new one that read zero. This was Avis with BA

This is normal, hired 5 times through MCO with Avis via BA, every time it’s stated a value on pickup then when the car is checked in on return you are handed a receipt stating $0... forget about it and enjoy your holiday 😊👍
