I believe our very own Tom Morrow is a bit of an elder statesman, and he seems to like Saratoga Springs.

From there you'll have a short pleasant stroll to Disney Springs and all it has to offer.

I would go for boardwalk over AKL unless you are crazy about animals. The location is great for the back of Epcot where there are less rides and more places to eat and stroll. You also have the lake to wander round, the boardwalk itself which has things to do/see in the evening and Fantasia gardens if the urge to play mini-golf strikes you. It is expensive (not much more so than AKL) so I would suggest looking into a DVC rental there and possibly saving some cash that way. There are also the Swan and Dolphin in the same area - you can walk between these, BW and Yacht/Beach club and they have a less disney more grown up feel. These are often cheaper than the disney resorts but watch for hidden resort fees which not all sites are clear about up front.
