My mum has been watching holiday programmes and has advised me to book a package holiday. She said with Covid etc it much safer. What are your opinions on this.

Depending on what you looking for with a package you get everything covered in one place so you covered if the holiday cancelled.

A pain if the company are useless or go bust.
I always use DIY as it’s cheaper 99% of the time and I keep control over everything. Post covid each hotel reservation will be cancellable and I’ll leave non refundable purchases till the last minute. I generally book reward flights which are fully flexible anyway. If there are issues with 1 part it won’t affect the whole holiday. It helps that I enjoy and have the time to research and keep an eye on prices. All on my amex of course for protection. |

I was going to book the hotel with Disney direct and then the flights with BA and one night at a airport hotel, so the flight would be classed as a package I think, my mum was still concerned, as she says this is all not in one place and their could be problems... any thoughts.

Booking direct is always the best option. If there are cancellations/issues you’ll get things sorted quicker and easier than through a third party.
Adding the airport hotel is great way to make the flight a package and only have to pay a deposit for now. I do that for friends/family quite often. |

BA have been fabulous with our cancelled booking for august 2020. We were issued a voucher for the amount paid and when I rebooked for this year and paid in full (not using my voucher) I emailed them about the voucher and they refunded me the full amount to my bank account. I can’t say which is safest, but I can recommend BA.
