February or October 2022?

We've decided to go for a fortnight in February or October 2022, taking in one of the half term holidays. What are the pros and cons of each time of year?

From our experience:
February:
- Generally quieter (not sure about the impact of half term)
- Generally cheaper (again not sure about half term)
- Festival of the arts (I loved this)

October:
- Warmer (in our experience, sone mornings in Feb were very cold but fine in the day)
- Halloween theming, MNNSHP
- If you are planning to visit universal, horror nights

To be honest, if you asked me for a preference I wouldn't have one. Had a brilliant time in both February and October. You can't go wrong IMO!

I went in February 2019 and also mid to late September rather than October.

I preferred the weather in February, it was warm but not too hot so great for theme parks. Having said this, from my research beforehand I read it is an unpredictable month weather wise. September was absolutely boiling and very humid and this is typical.

The crowd levels were much better in September though. February was really busy and after the first three fastpasses there was really nothing else to do as nothing became available and we don’t do two / three hour queues.

If I had to pick, I would brave the heat and humidity and pick October as I think crowds would be more manageable than February. The Halloween events would be a downside for me as it reduces park hours several times a week, but not enough to make me pick February again.

We have never been in February but did do 2 weeks in October in 2014 including half term (bearing in mind our half term is a week before most of the U.K.) and we loved it! The weather was perfect, we only saw rain twice and very briefly and while it was lovely and hot it was a lot nicer than august humidity. The crowds were great but then the previous year we had been for Easter so guess it would seem great! We loved MNSSHP but didn’t do HHN at universal as we are all big wimps! I would love to visit in October again.

Would totally agree, we loved them both! You’ll have a great time whichever you pick!

As I have pointed out on previous posts Feb half term 2022 and 2023 does not fall on President day week which should hopefully keep the crowds at a lower level.

It did get very busy in 2019 because of the long weekend as a lot of the New York/ Maine crowd come down to get away from the cold weather.

Thanks - what happened during the Festival of the Arts? Was that just in Epcot?

I've been in both February and October/September time and generally always decide to go around late September to early October but thats down to the fact that I love Halloween and the Decor and also Halloween Horror Nights at Universal. As others have said above you can't really go wrong as both times are pretty good! I guess it really depends on what you are looking for in your holiday

We love Epcot Food and Wine Festival which is on during October. Can’t comment on Feb but when we go back we are definitely going to make sure Food and Wine is on

I’m worried that in February it’ll be too cold to go to the water parks. I realised that my main memories from our non-stop fortnight in May 2018 were when we relaxed more, either at the resort pool or in Typhoon Lagoon. The rest is a blur of rushing to make fast passes and ADRs. This time we want to go more slowly, and take it easy. But not freeze.
