God, you are so lucky. We have stayed at the Al Qasr, Burj Al Arab, Atlantis , and the Al Maha, I love the place. We are off to the Al Maha Desert Resort and Spa in the next few weeks, wish we could stay in Dubai forever. xx

Thanks for sharing your trip with us. We loved Dubai when we went at new year and have already booked to go back at Christmas.

It's not allowed to get over 49.9C by Royal Decree. Or in other words the official temp will never get to 50. Might put people off. Seriously though, I've not seen 50 in my 3+ years here. Does get a tad warm between May and September though. But outside that time (which is much less than a UK autumn, winter, spring) it's great. Today it was 39C. Great swimming weather, little breeze, bit of gentle rafting. Not bad really.

We live about 30km from Al Maha, but we've never been. I have heard that it is absolutely fantastic though and very different to the more well known hotels or resorts. I was working in Al Ain for the past 10 months so drove past it most days. People who have told me about Al Maha only stay one or two nights, usually using a lot of Emirates Skywards miles, because it's that flipping' expensive.

oooh last year was well over 50 degrees in the summer months (have seen nearly 55 in the shade), and yes it doesnt officially get over 50 as then they would have to send everyone home, which will never happen.

have seen the piccies of it, but its a couples retreat really, tourist trap and very expensive, but very very different than the rest of the hotels in dubai.
