first time back in 6 years and can say im not impressed, fingers crossed it gets better
Sometimes rides are down and they have to drop groups, just bad luck, although I think Guardians is more prone to breakdowns that it should be. The 6pm slots will be intended for during the extended evening hours and I expect they made an estimate of how many of the normal groups they can get through until regular closing time.

I thought the general consensus was that GOTG was a fairly reliable ride and generally less prone to breakdowns than many other rides?

I have never come across a consensus either way. My own experience is that it is down a great deal.

Fair enough. I thought I'd read a few places saying GOTG isn't down as often as some rides are and that it's generally pretty reliable. But I have no idea whether that's actually the case or not.

I would say it seems down less than, say, Tron or Hagrids (IMO). Probably helped by the fact that it's an indoor ride. I never noticed GOTG being down when I've been there but admittedly that doesn't mean anything.

Several websites have tracked its reliability, it's not a disaster by any means, it is down for about 60 minutes per day on average. But it does have days where it is down for a large part of the day:

Don't know why we keep coming back to Disney, the whole place with the falling standards and increased cash robbery just annoys me.

Still love it though

The answer to your question in italics seems to be the part you said in bold

Was 2019 last time we included Disney, the last 3-4 trips over we felt like we was missing out not doing Disney and just doing all the other parks but this trip for us personally has confirmed we’re really not and pretty much gutted we’ve spent nearly £3k to see that but lesson learnt and we’ll stick to the others in future especially universal, there seems to be a more upwards hype towards universal with anticipation of epic universe coming soon😎

Its been down quite a lot over the last 2 weeks.

Apparently has water damage somewhere that's not been repaired properly and leading to the down time.
